Nikita

Courageous Nikita needs surgery.

When her radiographs were put up on the screen all eyes in the exam room filled with tears. Anyone could see the horrible fracture of her pelvis and the pain that she had bravely and stoically endured… for three weeks.

Nikita’s incredible journey

Nikita was found injured on the side of the road and brought to an animal shelter. Though euthanasia would have been the simplest thing to do, the shelter staff recognized her amazing spirit and tried to find her a home. She waited in the shelter for three weeks—without treatment. Can you imagine what she went through? Then Labrador Retriever rescue heard about Nikita and immediately picked her up to be brought into their care. Not once did she grumble, growl or whine. This courageous little soul had already survived the worst. What Nikita needs now is a new hip so that she has a shot at a normal life. With total hip replacement surgery Nikita’s prognosis is excellent. She could be chasing tennis balls by the end of this summer… but she needs your help. Colorado’s Helping Hands Foundation would like to help Nikita’s rescuers with the cost of surgery for this very sweet, very brave dog.

Your donation can make a difference in her life.

Until her surgery takes place, Nikita is in an excellent foster care situation. Her fracture needs to heal sufficiently before the hip can be replaced. We’re targeting mid-May for her surgery. Thank you for helping Nikita…and others like her. This sweet little lady is worth saving.

Her happy Ending

Nikita received what she needed – medical care and a new home.
